On June 10, 2023, The Judge Alexander Williams Jr. Center (JAWC) was honored to attend the Associated Black Charities (ABC) Annual Gala titled, "To Baltimore, With Love..." that celebrated 38 years of public service and highlighted community grassroots organizations that contributed to the growth, success, and excellence of the Black community.
Rooted in the principles of equity and justice, ABC collaborates and builds partnerships with members and organizations to address and dismantle the health, educational, housing, economic, and employment disparities resulted by structural racism. Joined by Maryland Governor Wes Moore, City of Baltimore Mayor Brandon M. Scott, and Baltimore executives, JAWC was thrilled to recognize local grassroots community organizations that strive for racial equity and inclusion and increase youth and community engagement across Baltimore.
We were excited to be joined by Elonna Jones, Baltimore City Regional Director for Senator Chris Van Hollen, who previously worked for JAWC as a Senior Research Associate for The Life's Blueprint Project--a juvenile diversion program partnership to be launched in Baltimore and College Park and many programmatic events that focused on policy issues centered around education, ethics and justice.
