On June 10, 2023, The Judge Alexander Williams Jr. Center (JAWC) was honored to attend the Associated Black Charities (ABC) Annual Gala titled, "To Baltimore, With Love..." that celebrated 38 years of public service and highlighted community grassroots organizations that contributed to the growth, success, and excellence of the Black community. Rooted in the principles of equity and justice, ABC collaborates and builds partnerships with members and organizations to address and dismantle the health, educational, housing, economic, and employment disparities resulted by structural racism. Joined by Maryland Governor Wes Moore, City of Baltimore Mayor Brandon M. Scott, and Baltimore executives, JAWC was thrilled to recognize local grassroots community organizations that strive for racial equity and inclusion and increase youth and community engagement across Baltimore.
In their commitment to advance the Black community, Chrissy Thornton, President and CEO of Associated Black Charities, acknowledges ABC's mission:
"Our mission remains resolute: to work as an educator, advocate, supporter, and convener to address and eliminate the barriers created by structural racism and to advance long-term solutions that create new opportunities for Black people to thrive."
