On October 25, 2023, Judge Alexander Williams Jr. Center for Education, Justice, and Ethics partners with the Office of the Attorney General and the Office of the Public Defender with a groundbreaking initiative to eliminate mass incarceration effective disproportionately against African Americans and marginalized groups in Maryland prisons and jails.
This historic initiative is tied to the Maryland Equitable Justice Collaborative(MEJC) --a new partnership between the Office of the Attorney General, Office of the Public Defender, The Judge Alexander Williams, Jr. Center for Education, Justice & Ethics at University of Maryland College Park, and the Institute for Restorative Justice and Practices at Bowie State University. Hosted at Bowie State University, this conference supported MD Attorney General Anthony G. Brown, Public Defender Natasha M. Dartigue, and Honorable Judge Williams.
