The Judge Alexander Williams Jr. Center is proud to announce that our founder and namesake, the Honorable Judge Alexander Williams Jr., was presented with the Lifetime Achievement Award by the National Black Prosecutors Association (NBPA) at its 42nd Annual National Conference and Job Fair.
This prestigious award was presented during the Closing Awards Gala on Thursday, July 24, 2025, at 6:30 PM at The Hotel at the University of Maryland. The NBPA’s Lifetime Achievement Award is reserved for legal professionals whose careers have been defined by a deep commitment to equity, justice, and the dismantling of historic barriers related to race, gender, and socioeconomic status.
Judge Williams’ trailblazing legacy includes becoming the first African American State’s Attorney in Prince George’s County, followed by his distinguished tenure as a United States District Court Judge for the District of Maryland. Throughout his career, Judge Williams has demonstrated unwavering dedication to public service, the fair administration of justice, and mentoring the next generation of legal professionals.
In a powerful moment during the gala, Honorable Judge Williams Jr. also took to the stage to swear in the new officers and directors of the NBPA—further affirming his legacy of leadership and commitment to advancing Black legal excellence across the country.
