Gov. Larry Hogan has appointed Montgomery County attorney Rosalyn Tang to the Court of Special Appeals, making her the first Asian American - and the youngest woman - to serve on the state’s second-highest court.
Tang, 41, has been a lawyer with Miles & Stockbridge, and represents businesses in commercial litigation and private clients in family law and divorce matters. Her bio on the law firm website says she also defends title insurance companies, their agents those insureds in local and appellate courts.
Before working as a private attorney, she worked for the Montgomery County office of law and as an assistant state’s attorney for the county. She was born to Taiwanese immigrants, the governor’s office said.
“Rosalyn has achieved many accomplishments in her years serving Maryland’s legal system, and I am proud to appoint her to the Court of Special Appeals,” Hogan said in a statement.
Tang replaces Judge Steven B. Gould, who was appointed to the Court of Appeals in September.
