Baltimore is making historic progress: homicides are down 23.6% and nonfatal shootings have dropped 23.4%—the lowest numbers recorded in the first five months of any year (Office of the Mayor, June 2, 2025).

What’s behind this progress? Join the Maryland Office of the Public Defender for a powerful evening of conversation with community leaders who are creating safety through connection, not punishment.
