On Monday, July 1, 2024, The USBE Information Technology: The Stem Community's Magazine, or also known as US Black Engineer, posted about the grand opening of the Thurgood Marshall Amenity Center, otherwise known as P.S.103, to the West Baltimore community.

"The Thurgood Marshall Amenity Center, a $15 million project, has officially opened. Notable guests at the event included Maryland House of Delegates Speaker Adrienne Jones, Darryll J. Pines, president of the University of Maryland as well as the Glenn L. Martin Professor of Aerospace Engineering, STEM City USA founder Tyrone Taborn, and other prominent figures.

The center, located in West Baltimore, was created through the renovation of the fire-damaged Public School (PS) 103, with the aim of revitalizing the historic district. It will provide educational, health, and career resources to the community, addressing economic disparities.

recent site event was attended by Rev. Dr. Alvin C. Hathaway Sr., chief executive officer of Beloved Community Services, and Ty Oliver Taborn, the executive vice president and general counsel at Career Communications Group, as well as other notable individuals.

The STEM City USA digital community at the Thurgood Marshall Amenity Center seeks to combine resources for educational, health, and career success, particularly benefiting underserved communities in the Old West Baltimore Historic District."
