On January 29, 2019, Dr. Dana A. Williams was appointed as the new Interim Dean of the Graduate School at Howard University. As Dean, Dr. Williams plans to continue to produce academic success through Howard's Graduate School. As well as "increasing the number of graduate students who are earning degrees from Howard." Throughout her career, Williams has beautifully created change within the educational community; so much so that in 2016, President Barak Obama nominated her to serve as a member of the National Council on the Humanities. Her excellent work will surely continue, as she notes" "I'm excited to continue the legacy of servant leaders at Howard. And I am looking forward to working with the graduate faculty and students to support the graduate school in whatever way I can".
