Aja Baker, Howard University of Law

Aja Baker is a second-year law student at Howard University School of Law and an alumna of St. Mary’s College of Maryland, where she received her bachelor’s degree in Religious Studies and Sociology. Aja is interested in pursuing public interest law with a focus on criminal justice reform and will spend this fall as a student attorney for the Reentry Clinic, where she will represent clients facing stigma due to past involvement with the criminal justice system. Before attending Howard, Aja served as Assistant Director of Maryland-based nonprofit, Path to Greatness, where she oversaw youth programming and the planning and execution of volunteer engagement and fundraising events. As a 2020 Summer Research Associate with The Judge Alexander Williams, Jr. Center for Education, Justice, & Ethics, Aja will be working on several exciting projects, including the implementation of the Legal Advocacy and Ethics Division of the center and working in collaboration with the Prince George’s County Conviction Sentencing Integrity Unit, reviewing convictions and providing recommendations.
