The Judge Alexander Williams Jr. Center for Education, Justice & Ethics highlighted the building of Henry Highland Garner School (PS103) and the 2024 Social Justice Bootcamp, which serve as two signature programs to support educational equity and social justice.
The Judge Alexander Williams, Jr. Center for Education, Justice & Ethics (Judge AW Center) is honored to partner with Cross Street Partners and The Beloved Community Services Corporation in the revitalization of West Baltimore, MD. Current renovations to the historic Henry Highland Garnet School (PS103) will transform it into the Justice Thurgood Marshall Amenity Center at PS 103, which will honor the legacy of Justice Thurgood Marshall and other Civil Rights leaders who called Upton home while also providing needed community services, resources, and education in the historically underserved community. As the anchor tenant in this soon-to-be renovated space, the Judge AW Center will bring applied research and community-based educational programing to a newly renovated space that will serve as a forum where solutions addressing the systemic challenges confronting Baltimore can be pushed fearlessly forward.
In addition, the Judge AW Center launched the 2024 Social Justice Bootcamp! This signature effort was designed to address many of the challenges high school students face daily post the pandemic. Featured on Youtube, viewers will catch a glimpse of the sessions and most importantly hear the impact of this innovative program. The Judge AW Center is committed to creating safe spaces where students of color and students from low-income backgrounds feel seen and heard. Thanks to all who join us and support this journey toward increased education outcomes for all students.
