On January 11, 2023, The College of Behavioral and Social Sciences highlighted the Judge Alexander Williams Jr. Center for Education, Justice, and Ethics (JAWC) for our collaborative efforts with Maryland state leaders and criminal justice experts to resolve the mass incarceration problem in the state. 

Known as the Maryland Equitable Justice Collaborative (MEJC), JAWC will work alongside Maryland's Office of the Attorney General, the Office of the Public Defender, and Bowie State University's Institute for Restorative Justice and Practices to create a comprehensive plan that addresses racial disparities for incarcerated people in the state.
