Tainya C. Clarke, PhD MPH MSc is an Assistant Research Professor with the Judge Alexander Williams, Jr. Center for Education, Justice & Ethics. Dr. Clarke has over 20 years of experience in survey methods, data analytics and clinical and public health research.

She has authored over 100 research publications, reports and abstracts and has presented research findings at national and international conferences. Dr. Clarke has also served as a principal investigator and/or provide research support on a variety of research grants.  She has taught a variety of undergraduate courses including Environmental Studies, Global Health, and Statistical Computing. Dr. Clarke has been with the University of Maryland African American Studies Department since 2015.

She has been a full-time pharmacoepidemiologist and health statistician at the US FDA since 2021. Dr. Clarke worked at CDC's National Center for Health statistics (2012-2021) as an epidemiologist and health statistician. Prior to that she worked at Mt Sinai Medical Center, Miami Beach, FL (2003-2012) as a pulmonary research supervisor. Dr Clarke earned her PhD in Epidemiology from the University of Miami Miller School of Medicine in 2013. She also holds a Master of Public Health degree in Biostatistics and a Master of Science degree in Environmental Studies.
