Erek Barron is an attorney with Whiteford, Taylor & Preston and state legislator who represents District 24 as a Democrat in the Maryland House of Delegates. As a lawyer, Barron co-founded the firm's Administrative Law & Regulatory Litigation and White Collar Criminal Defense & Investigations practice groups. He also focuses his practice on business litigation, crisis management and provides strategic advice and advocacy to a range of corporate, nonprofit and government entities and their leadership.

Mr. Barron has enjoyed a distinguished career in government. He has served as a state and federal prosecutor, as counsel and policy advisor to the U.S. Senate Judiciary Committee and the Subcommittee on Crime and Drugs. Mr. Barron currently serves as a member of the Maryland House of Delegates, representing Prince George’s County. In this capacity, he serves on the Health & Government Operations Committee where he is instrumental in shaping healthcare policy, administrative law and labor and employment law. 

Mr. Barron has held leadership roles with a range of civic and charitable organizations, including the Maryland Legal Aid Bureau, the Maryland Pro Bono Resource Center, the American Bar Association, the National Bar Association, the Maryland State Bar Association, and the J. Franklyn Bourne Bar Association. He also enjoys volunteering his time with a variety of disadvantaged youth-related programs. And, whenever possible, Mr. Barron volunteers his time pro bono to the indigent and underserved communities. Recently, he led the pro bono appeal of a capital case in which the Delaware Supreme Court unanimously reversed the client’s convictions and death sentence based on judicial error and prosecutorial misconduct.
