On October 29, 2024, The Judge AW Center hosted a Town Hall on Gun Violence at The Thurgood Marshall Amenity Center in West Baltimore. The panel discussion was insightful, thought provoking and inspiring. They discussed the relationship between the historical legacy of Baltimore's Black Butterfly, structural violence, community violence and community violence interventions. Audience members shared their perspectives on what's needed going forward to curb the rate of gun violence.
This event brought together community leaders, policymakers, educators, and survivors for a powerful dialogue on solutions to the gun violence epidemic. Panelists Larry Brown, PhD, MPA; Joseph Richardson, PhD; James “JT” Timpson; and Dr. Stephen Thomas offered evidence-based insights and community-driven strategies for prevention. The event also featured survivor stories that emphasized the urgency of coordinated, compassionate action.
